Today is my last full day in Amritsar. I took my time and enjoyed the city. I’ve stayed loyal to the same chai vendors and the same kulcha spot for my breakfast. I walk in, give them a nod, and they know what I want. I’m a regular. I have a reputation to uphold. This is how the seeds are planted for a long-term stay, and Amritsar is a city that I could spend a lot of time in.
I went to the Golden Temple this evening and soaked it all in. The beautiful and bright gold shimmered perfectly off the dark water surrounding the temple, and prayers came through over the loudspeaker and filled the square. I sat crossed legged on the cold marble floors and appreciated the view. Initially, I was antsy, and nearly got up to leave, but then a little voice in my head reminded me that I may never be here again. It’s my last night in Amritsar, my last night at the Golden Temple, and my last week in India. I decided to stay for a while and enjoy the moment. I will miss this place and these people. I’ve come a long way to get here.
Golden temple looks insanely beautiful
