No better of way of bringing out the dilemma which everyone has.. that is, to lead a quiet life with a family over a busy and successful career. This made me cry! “A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one's neighbour — such is my idea of happiness.” - Tolstoy ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Having said this, I feel we need to strike a balance between a happy life and a demanding career. The transience of life which you have alluded to and the realisation of this eternal truth should help us to draw a line where to stop.

Thought: you would never appreciate the peace and serenity that comes with living a simple life unless you experience a hectic one. Everything we do is meant to be and it’s meant to be a learning experience so do it all and learn what you really want in this life❤️‍🩹

These comments have such wisdom. What a blessing to have so many wise people in your life, Clayton, and that care deeply about you! You have realized something so important & it is at the crux of what gives your life meaning. Which we all struggle with….even when you are all grown up! Years ago, I was given sage advice from an older friend……” you don’t have to go off to a foreign country or some great adventure to do good….all you need to do is tend to your own patch. If everyone did this, no one would have to worry. “ Your patch can be anywhere…. It can be your neighborhood and friends in NYC. It is harder for sure in a busy place like NYC, but to cultivate that mind set to be of value to your immediate & present reality is very grounding. Plus it really makes you feel really good. That’s success right there.

Love your insights and posts! It makes a lot of us think!
